| I currently have 2 rod/reel combos and pick up a third rod at the musky show (oops!) Currently I have:
6'9"XH stcroix with a 6500 abu
8' MH Tackle Industries with a. Saltist20
I picked up an 8' Fenwick MH, it seems to have quite a bit more action and less power than my TI rod, I plan on using it to throw regular size bucktails, smaller cranks, and some heavy Pike fishing. Looking to pair up a reel for this, any ideas?
A revo is out of my price range, any ideas for a $100 reel? Perhaps a Shimano? |

| A little more than what you want to spend, but if you can find a Shimano Curado 300DSV you'll love it. This is the previous generation and you can find them at discounted pricing, especially if you go second hand. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Best reel for under $100.00 is the BASS PRO SHOPS musky reel {AKA PETE MANIA old reel} comes in 5.2:1 or 4.2:1 and if it blows up, take it back to Bass PRO-OUTDOOR WORLD for a new one.

| Shimano Cardiff is a nice reel for $109. I would bet the Okuma akena is pretty good too at $100. If you must stay under $100, then you can look at the Pflueger Trion 66 for about $80. I have had one of those for 4+ years and it hasn't failed me yet.
i can't recommend enough thou, if you want to spend more, the Calcutta 400b or the St Croix AC300 both at $229. I just love these reels. The 400b is my favorite small - medium bucktail reel.

I have never does business with Bass Pros they have a good return policy? They take them back no questions asked?
I have heard replacement parts are a no go for this reel.
Who makes them? Are they compatible with any other brand? I would like to install a power handle. |

Paid $69 each, but heard they changed things slightly (aesthetics I think) for this year and closed out what they had for $55. So far so good. The 4.2 actually is almost too easy to crank double tens. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | I've been using the Okuma Akena 400 for the past three weeks. Sounds like it could be a good fit with the rod you have. So far it's been smooth and reliable. I think it retails at $99.00 or so. 5.1-1 gear ratio, six ball bearings, thumb bar release. Seems smooth casting, with a nice handle. No problems so far! Probably not a DCG reel but for things like you are throwing I'll bet it'll work just fine.
