Ok, so I was fishing with "legendary Canadian guide" and we were having a normal day, with some casting contests, bird watching, disparaging remarks on each other's fishing abilities, the oh too rare occassional fish etc., when there arose a great hubub of Fire Engines, Sirens, and eventually an Ambulance across the lake at the boat landing. Too intent on fishing, and too lazy to go investigate, we came up with several theories, involving travelling meth lab, car on fire, accident, filling the pumper...as we speculated on the cause of it all. Eventually we left it behind with no answers, heading up the lake to continue fishing.

Later that day we spoke with a DNR survey clerk and found out that a fisherman had died at the wheel of his boat, and was doing circles out on the lake. I looked at "legendary Canadian guide" and said, "well, that wouldn't be such a bad way to go, might as well die doing something you like", and "legendary Canadian guide" commented that he wouldn't mind dying that way either,.........at the age of 110!!!

That's my plan as well, but I'm more realistic. I figure 105 ought to be about right. Leaves me plenty of time to torment Slamr.

Not a a bad way to go. Sort of an interesting day!

Still a little upset at the fish FSF stole from me on a figure-8. I get the fish up and it's charging. FSF just reeled in and I told him (as he seldom sees the fish) that I had an active fish up. He (and I) start to figure-8, and wouldn't you know it the stupid fish hits his lure.

Oh well, such is muskie fishing. I'm claiming 66 2/3% of the fish.

Muskie fishing with FSF is fun! Not only that he's a pretty good fisherman.

Doug, just step on his foot, he never wears shoes in the boat, regardless of the weather!

Steve,
No problem on only making it to 105. Because I'll be more than happy to back you up on the Slamr tormenting.

Hopefully he left this world after catching his personal best fish. That would be a great way to go because you know he'd probably be smiling all the way.

Well of course, what DougJ forgets to mention is that two weeks ago he had a fish come up and like......his eyes and concentration are starting to fail(!)... and he never saw the fish, and I graciously pointed out that fish to him, and he immediately started to figure 8 the fish he never saw, and hooked up with it(losing it in short order). Obviously, I got no return on that one, so at the very least this last fish had to be considered an "owe me".

It's tough enough concentrating through the banter enough to spot my fish, let alone spot his fish, and then I had to almost shoot the last turkey we saw before he could spot that. I may have to get his prescription checked next season, lucky thing my trifocals are current, or we might be in trouble out there.

My fourth grade daughter is having a tough week. Her friends' Dad died last week. He was a long distance runner and was in very good shape. He was a regular volunteer at her school and everyone loved him. It couldn't have been more of a shock when he dropped from a heart attack while running. Who would have thought?

A very special man at our church just learned he has stage 4 cancer. He has a family just like mine and is about my age. It is a very aggressive form of cancer and he has very little time left.

My daughter and wife are both a little shook up right now. My wife put a special note into my lunch cooler yesterday.

Enjoy your days on this earth and live each day as if it could be your last. Treat each other as you would like to be treated and never be afraid to show people you appreciate them. You never know if you will get to speak to them again. You never know.

Just a few thoughts.
