Help!!!

Need some suggestions on why my 2008 4 stroke DF70 is not streaming water out the back.

I just changed the lower unit oil and wanted to fire it up as I was planning on going out tomorrow afternoon. Watching it run water was coming out everywhere but the pee hole.

The motor ran fine two weeks ago when I went fishing. I did get buried into mud but believe it was working fine after that. I did not check to see if it was peeing but the motor ran fine for the remaining time I was on the water.

Where does the motor pickup water to pee out the back? I am wondering if I got something stuck but am not certain on where to look.

Any ideas - this will really put a damper on the weekend plans.

Thanks,
Dave.

i don't have experience with your particular engine but my guess is dry mud somewhere in your system. i'd run it for a few seconds, let it sit for a few minutes, and run it again for a few seconds a few times before you give up, rev it up a few times too. you can also do much worse than blowing back through the pee hole to try and dislodge whatever it is that is blocking the flow. sounds dumb but it works.

also take your cover off and follow what is probably a flexible hose back to where it comes out of the engine, i've found with mine it likes to block and ice up at a 90 degree turn where it clips onto the engine outlet. stick an old leader wire or something in there and see if you can dislodge anything.

the pee-hole is a great place for bugs to play around. take off the cowling and make sure the line has no obstructions.

Thanks guys - I pulled the side cowling off and finally worked the hose off of the fitting. Turned the motor on and worked the hose to free up any obstruction. Poured out brown water and then quit draining. Finally it broke free and it is now shooting out clear water.

Thanks again.
Dave.

Carry a 10 inch piece of weed eater string or heavy mono with you. Works great in a pinch to free up pee hole obstructions...unless it's kidney stones.
