Location: SW MI | I recently bought a fishfinder for my trolling motor and when I went to put it on, I noticed that the prop section has a "skeg" on it. It's an older motor (1996?) and I was wondering if it is a neccessary part. I'm thinking of having it removed and want to know if it would effect how the motor works. |

| All trolling motors I've seen have had the skeg. Don't know why you'd want to remove it, but I'd advise against it. |

Location: SW MI | Sounds good, looks like I'll have to be creative with where I put the transducer. |

Location: Cohasset, MN | Johnny Ray makes a mount so your transducer rides sorta side saddle. There's a picture near the bottom of their home page.

Location: SW MI | That thing is pretty cool. Maybe I'll see if I can figure something out on my own to use. |

Location: Des Moines IA | The skeg on the trolling motor actually protects the transducer from damage. I wouldn't remove it. |
