I just received my 9' Mega Heavy Tackle Industries rod and I have to say that it rocks. James, you outdid yourself. I can't wait to throw pounders and the new larger Medussa with it. If you haven't yet, and are in the market for a new rod, the Tackle Industry rod is just great.

I also go a 9'er medium heavy not to long ago and i cant wait to try it out .. Was comparing it to our st. Croixs and this thing had the potential to be my new fav rod.

Thanks! Working on two more rods right now. Both have long handles. One is a full cork handle and one is a split grip. For these the rod blanks will be telescoping and reduce the length by about 12"-14" or so. I think they will go well with the removable handle rods we have right now. Three types of rods in 6 powers will be more than enough for me after this. If all goes well I hope to have these ready to go by mid summer.

James,
Will the new telescopic rods be the same length as the others? I would love to see a shorter glider/jerkbait rod......haha just kidding, but seriously, keep up the good work your stuff is awesome.

I got my rod last fall and used it quite a few hours and even a couple fish on it. Amazing rod, right up there with my Custom Predator.

I was thinking of starting with a 9' telescopic rod. If they go well I will do an 8' too. Told the wife after I got to 30 lure lines I was done. LOL never said I would not start rods

You are planning on 6 powers? Any plans for what the other 3 powers are going to be? Anything along the lines of a 4-16 (something that can handle Pounders easily but isn't really heavy)? Also, do you plan on doing a rod with the long handles that has an overall length of 8'6"? Talk about being picky huh?!

I should just go for the 9 footer, but I worry that netting fish alone might get tricky. It takes enough planning to net them alone with an 8'6", but I'm sure I could figure it out.

Just when I think I probably don't need any more stuff, you come up with something I feel like I need to try out! I like the sounds of the telescopic split grip.

Sorry, 3 powers per length. I would concentrate on 8' and 9' with reduced lengths of about 12"-16" from teh 8' and 9' lengths. I hear you on the split grip with a telescopic rod blank. Never seen than one yet but I am sure we will by a few soon. Combine the best ideas and see if you can make them work!

I got ya. Figured you would have some pretty specific weight ratings if you made 3 more. I do like the split grip telescopic rod. Might have to sign me up for one of those if you can make them happen!

Not to highjack the thread but any of you that have/seen a Tackle Industry rod what would be a similar TI rod as the Slingblade? Looking to add an 8' for big blades

You might try PMing Jerry Sondag. I think he has a lot of St. Croix rods and uses them extensively.
