My question is this.
I live in Wisconsin,If i were to buy a boat that is now registered in Minnesota and register it in my home state would i have to pay sales tax on the boat when i register it in Wisconsin.

Thanks

I just bought used from a dealer in wisconsin and paid 5% tax at the dealer. I live in indiana and when I register I will have 1% tax here cause our tax for that is 6%. If whoever you buy doesn't charge you sales tax you will have to pay it when you register

In mn you don't pay taxes til it's registered. I believ. If you register it in another state you pay there

I live in Iowa and registered my boat and trailer in MN where I bought it and saved by not paying sales tax in MN we would otherwise have payed in Iowa had I licensed the trailer and registered the boat here.

You will have to pay wis tax on a used boat. It doesn't matter what state you bought it in. They charge tax when you register it at your local dnr office. They charge you tax on the price that is LISTED Listed on your bill of sale. Did I say they charge you tax on the price of purchase listed on the bill of sale.
