Location: Hopefully on the water | After reading some posts on Optimax's and them needing a lot of battery for starting what are some of you guys doing when running your electronics also or is this something that I shouldn't even worry about. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Only time I've ever had problems with power is when I've been running livewell pumps, aerators, and having the large screen electronics running all day and not using my big motor for a long period of time. I also stick a charger on my starting battery in the fall just to make sure it's at full charge before heading to the lake after knowing my boat had sat for more than a day or two consecutively. |

Location: syracuse indiana | tj is right, the opti takes a very high capacity battery min of a 1000cca, i actualy use the largest max 29 from wallyworld and that works for mine, just during the day run the motor for a bit and youll be fine, and charge it up when not using it and check the water in it , if she gets low add distilled water, and you will be fine...bill |

| I have an '02-200 Opti and have never had any problems starting either in the spring or on the water after a full day running electronics. If you any concerns start the big motor from time to time. |

| That would be 1000 MCA, or marine cranknig amps. Different from CCA, or cold cranking amps. MCA is tested at 32 degrees F, and CCA is tested at 0 Degrees F.
Opti's require 1000 MCA minimum. That's about 750 CCA. I run a dual purpose battery with my 200 Opti. Haven't had an issues since I switched to this set up. I also charge all batteries every time the boat is put up for the night. |

| Also, a good idea for everybody is to carry jumper cables in your boat. If your starting battery is dead when you go to start the motor, hook it up to one of your trolling motor batteries with the jumper cables and get it started. Much quicker and safer than exchanging batteries. Pretty sure this is something Jonesi posted on here last winter that proved VERY useful for me this year.
