Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes. My main issue was the amount of time i could record and how easy it was to mark where something of interest happens. I want the DVR to have an LCD disoplay screen so I can see what I am recording and make sure it's working correctly.
The larger the storage capacity, the better. A 2 gig SD card will give you about 2 hours, so 8 gigs in an sdhc will get you a day DTE. Many cameras with video in do not support sdhc, so the max is 2 gig a a time, which is fine.
DVR options:
See if you can find a DXG 505V out there. used is fine, they are pretty tough. Not a good video camera, but an excellent and inexpensive DVR.
This one works well too:

Almost any camera with a video in plug for RCA will work, but mini dv format requires you to capture the data which is very time consuming. Any used Archos with a video in dock will work. You underwater camera will need to have a video out jack.
This one also works well and is fine for web, but the resolution is limited for anything beyond web publication.

I personally like the units I can use double a rechargeables with, I can power one for an entire day with 4 in the unit and 8 in a pack. |
