I've made a few cranks using my miter saw as well. Would be interested to know what else works too. It can be difficult to get perfect alignment....

I cut all my lipslots in my blanks before I turn them. That way everyone is exactly the same & truly square. I use 1/8" polycarbonate for my lips & the saw blade slot is a nice tight 1/8" which is perfect. I put a piece of wood 1/8" thick in the lipslot while painting & detailing the bait. Then I epoxy the polycarbonate lip in place & its good to go. I also do the same with round stock. I made a square block with a centered hole the size of the dowel or round stock. It may take a few tries to get everything right the way you want it but once you have it there it will work for hundreds of baits. Hope this helps. Ken
