Can water based paint be used to repaint plastic lures? If so what type of primer should be used?

I just painted a 14 inch Jake for Jredig and primed it with regular water based Createx white. Three coats. Another tip for the clearcoat - I use a clear coat that you can get at Hobby Lobby called Tree House Studios Triple Thick Clear Glaze. It's pretty hard and keeps the gloss on the bait. It's 3 times thicker than a normal lacquer clear coat.

i do the the same thing, put a couple good coats of white opaque createx on them after scuffing. dry it well with a hairdryer to see if it covered good enough for what you want. after that go back over it with what color you want to be your base, i usually use pearls. have fun

Juhas,

I prime all my baits, wood or plastic with krylon fusion white in a rattle can. It's made for painting plastic (like lawn furnature). It lays down nice, drys fast and will stick to anything. No need to clean out the airbrush either.
