Nice fish Divani!

Good to see that your recent trip to Sweden produced some good fish for you!

divani- Now I know where I saw you before-> Amsterdam Shipol Airport, your face was on a Interpol Wanted Poster as part of a terrorist group that was suspected of harassing a poor Swedish fishing guide.[] []

Nice fish photo's- Likewise nice to be able to connect a face to the name. Re. First photo, classic pike reed/grass hangout. But what's with the eye's on the back of your lure? Do you find they help improve your strike numbers, hook up's, etc???

Pike fishing is my second freshwater fish of choice, of course now it's MuskieFirst.[:sun:]

a quick reply to esox maniac: you're looking at the belly side of the lure!! I'm a fisherman, not a poacher. I haven't used a treble on the back of a lure and probably never will. This pike had totally swallowed the crankbait and I unhooked it first and then loosely placed it in the hook of its mouth for a quick picture and a quick release.

the pike were greedy at taking the lure (I had to cut the hooks four times, never had to do that before) and often they had completely enhaled it but missing 47 pike and catching 10 isn't really good!

The markings on these fish are awesome! Never seen that before and we caught two different types of pike: one with a regular head and one with a tiny head, really tiny! I have been told that the ones with a regular head feed on perch/roach/bream and the ones with a tiny head feed primarily on herring which are abundant there. I hope those pics are focussed so I can show you the difference in a few weeks (when I get the pictures from the other three guys).

The first pike in this series of three pictures was caught in a large lake. It grabbed and missed an old 7" swim whizz in jailbird, then it missed a 6" green/yellow perch reef hawg and then it enhaled this crankbait completely! I had been casting on this very spot 25 minutes before I caught it! Pike were hunting in the reeds you can see in the background.

The second pike of 102cm was caught by Kjelle on a suspended pig in a classic windblown spot. There were two large rockhumps near the shore, about 50m apart, with a small slot behind one of the humps (where the water was forced through a stretch of 3m wide for the length of the second hump). The wind had been pounding in there during the afternoon (environmental change because the morning was dead calm and hot). It was about 4PM when she hit and we had been fishing there for 15 minutes or so. My buddy Ronny caught a smaller pike immediately after this one was released and then it was over.

I learned a lot from fishing with kjelle and from watching all those musky tapes: environmental changes, right time ona spot, windblown shoreline and islands, ... all these produced fish. As if it was predictable! Also underwater islands when we could locate them (we had no depthfinder, just a hydrographic map of the area).

The last pike was caught on a redhead tekneek I made for Ronny at about 3m from the shore, where it was 30cm deep. She shot forward from the deeper water after our boat had passed over the spot. I thought he had fallen into the water! Big splash, close to the boat. We made a drift along this shore three times and caught fish on every drift, but she hit when we least expected it. Good job Ronny![]

johnMD, which Swedish bait team? You mean the lures we used?

I don't have a picture of us all because there were some frictions in our group at the end of the trip (as if being ripped off wasn't enough yet).

I can't believe Dirk has no pictures of the swedish girls to post on this site. Bannish him from this site![]

Actually, nice fish, glad to put a face to your name. If I can ever figure out how to post a pic, you can put a face to my name, well after seeing my face maybe not![;)]

could it be that the crankbait you can see in the first picture was made by JIO??? I guess so![] Great crankbait!

yes, I was amazed too by how beautiful the markings on these fish were. Normally, where I fish, they don't look as nice as these.

todd, when we went to a bar I had better things to do that walk around with a camera!![] []

would be nice to see a picture of you too. Maybe that directory of members with a picture wouldn't be such a bad idea?

Ah hah, now I see what you are doing with that Tek-Neek I sent you!! Now, how about making one up for me and sending it along with the Divani that is coming my way? That 'Neek copy looks like the real thing, and obviously catches fish too.

Very interesting Mr. Dirk.

Jamie, sorry for the delay on your divani XL, I'm a little behind on schedule with the lures I'm making. I'll make you one of those tekneeks as well (they are slow sinking ones of about 6.5") but that one will follow later when I have access to my woodturning lathe again. I want to get you that first jerkbait asap. Sorry again!

oh yes, I already made him that redhead tekneek well over a year ago![:sun:] []

Looks like you had some good Pike fishing over there.

we didn't catch much though. these are mostly pics of the last days (the 102cm pike came on the first day). I caught ten pike, my buddy ronny 13, the rest also about 10-13 pike each. Kjelle was the only one who caught more. I lost 47 pike (started counting them because I got really ennoyed about it!).

Better luck next time I think!

I'm disappointed. I thought they would look different being from Sweden, perhaps nickers and a funny hat? Your's look like the same rare russian spotted strain of muskies we get here.
