Posts: 540 Location: MN | So mom&dad gave me a gift card to thorne bros for Christmas and I'm looking at a couple rods and I'd like some input from you guys. The rods that I allready have are 2 8'6" xh legend tourny croix's and 1 8'6" h legend tourny croix all 3 extended to 9'. I'm looking at the Thorne Bros predator xh 9'8" or a 8' h legend croix. Seeing as how I allready have 2 xh rods that I use for big rubber and burning dbl blades and that's how I fish 80% of the time I'm thinking I might be better off with the 8' legend for jerk baits and top water. But a 10' rod would be bad ass and I do ok now with my sling blade for jerks and tops. Any input would be great so I can put the fire out that this money in my pocket has started.

Posts: 7038 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Why would you get yet another rod for a specialty presentation that you already have covered with rods dedicated to that presentation? I've done that before, you never use the new rod, or the ones you used to like you put down and they collect dust. I'm a super rod "snob" and I really like having a variety of rods for specific presentations so I would go with the nice jerkbait rod. It may not get a TON of use, but if it's of high quality you will enjoy it when you do use it and rods don't "wear out" if you're not abusing them.

Posts: 540 Location: MN | Ok mabey my big dawgs got softer becaus I fed them a steady diet of 2pounders and 14" jakes but that's what the fish wanted from september-November so I don't think a non abused rod wears out but mine did.

I like the LT 7'6" XHF for jerks but don't always have room for it so the Sling and Dawg get used instead. If I was using 2lbers I would go with a PM86XHF, I just don't feel right about overloading a $340 dollar rod.
