Does anybody have any feedback on how these reels hold up to Pounders? Any anti reverse problems? I figured the high gear ratio would be great for picking up the slack line. Also does anybody burn big blades with these reels? That's not my intention but I was wondering if they held up to the big blades as well. Any other positive or negative comments would be appreciated. Thanks for your input.

I've used them for mag dawgs a lot, but i wouldn't do pounders or try and burn blades unless the blades are smaller than #8's and not double's. You'd be better off with a saltist 20. If you need more info, search, it's been beat to death.

I tried a search and didn't find anything, I must have done it wrong.

I have two of these. Great reel. I have slow rolled 10s with these and it has worked well. I have never burned blades with this reel, as Jeff stated, it's not made for that application. Good Mag dawg reel as well. I have thrown quite a few pounders with it no problem, but again not sure if it is made for that application. Overall, good quality reel.

I went through 2 300E's this year, which is what replaced the 300DSV. I used them for what you're asking and the first one was squelling w/ in a month and the handle broke on the second one. Second one was probably an easy fix but since I got it from Cabela's, I just decided to exchange for a Calcutta w/ no questions asked. I think it would be a great reel for the smaller stuff but I don't know that the more low profile reels are going to have the long-term durability when using larger and harder pulling baits.

for those that have used both the 300dsv and the 300e can you really feel the difference between the two?

The Curado has a disengaging level wind system so 65lb and maybe 80lb max for line on this reel due to the disengaging level wind system. On pounders you should have 100lb test. The 300E has a crank bearing and the 300DSV does not. Also the 300E has a Titanium IP line guide.

I ran 65# test on mine up until this year, but had my line snap for the first time in years. I ended up changing to 80# Fireline Braid, which is a smaller diameter than most other 80# lines out there. It seems to work just fine.

As far as the reel itself, I think it's the nicest reel I've ever used in many ways. Certainly the most comfortable to fish with. I use it for topwaters, jerkbaits and jigs. For those three types of baits I think it's about perfect. I do wish they would come out with a lower geared version around 5.0:1, but for the baits I use it for the 6.2 works great.
