Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | Yes this was the sad new I recieved when I returned home this weekend, brain anerism at his sons hockey pratice. Sad loss, moved here to Twin cities and joined the board of directors of Musky Inc just over a year ago, He had a passion for muskies on the fly, and had a big entry with I believe a 49". Our prayers go to his wife and son he left behind. Always looked forward to talking to him about his recent trip. Troyz

I didn't know Mark as well as I wished I had but I do know from first hand experience that he was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. This was a shock to all that knew Mark and while the impact of his passing will be the greatest on his immediate family, it will certainly reach far beyond them. Live life ladies and gentlemen for it can be gone in an instant. Now call someone important to you and let them know how you feel. Godspeed Mr. Meritt. http://www.familyandfriendsfh.com/index.cfm Craig Eversoll

Posts: 1023 Location: Lafayette, IN | Mark and Lisa represent the best of what is Indiana musky fishing and angling in general. It didn't matter which one answered the phone. They were enthusiastic about giving helpful tips and always so cordial. Mark will be missed. Lisa, your family is in our prayers. Steve Johnson Lafayette, IN

Location: Right Here | Mark was the first muskie fisherman I ever fished with. After a year or two of fishing for them by myself or with various people that had never done it before, I hired Mark for a day to learn more about the sport. Now more than ten years later, I am still using some of the tools that Mark taught me then. He even was telling me about how he was starting to play around with catching muskies on a fly rod. He even thought about trying to win the Indiana Classic by only using a fly rod since he had already placed in it multiple times with conventional tackle. Just to see if he could do it. Truely a class act and a great guy that helped me on multiple occasions after our trip too. I hoped that I could spend another day on the water with him one day. I should have done more calling than thinking. Sad.

Wow, that's hard to believe. When I started fishing Indiana he was just about the only guide out there. He was a great guy and sportsman with great ethics on the water. He will be missed. My prayers go out to his family.
