| Spent yesterday on Mille Lacs from 4-10 p.m. with a buddy and a guide. The fish are starting to move finally-just in the last 7-10 days, according to the guide. We saw 5 fish and had a couple other strikes of unknown origin-maybe pike. Three of the fish were big girls - I'm no good at estimating but I would say 45+ and I would not doubt 50.
We only had one solid strike-blow up on a hi-fin about 7:00, just as the lunar phase was closing. Also had a follow that we watched come in after the same hi-fin for 15-20 yards. Came all the way to the boat, but wouldn't eat.
As a bonus, fished walleyes for a couple hours in early afternoon, and caught 7; 1 in the slot, 5 others between 20 and 26 inches.
If you can get there, the fishing will probably only get bettwe over the next month.
