A rod balancer from Bass Pro shops will add an inch or two.

I just had the butt on my Fenwick extended but I took it in to have it done so I have no idea how they do it. Looks great though and is much more comfortable to fish with.

i have done it myself to my Compre, i added about 4". i just used a hack saw and cut the very end off then took a old butt and cut it so i had about 10" then i carefully took 6" of cork off the blank and sanded it. then made sure it fitted then i used Gorilla Glue cause it expands to secure it. that was last season and it still works great. i know some rods got a long butt on them but i wish all had atleast a 18-20" butt. it is so much more comfortable for a long day of fishing.

Had Thorne Bros do the same to my Fenwick - huge improvement extended to 14+ instead of the stock 12" handle. I think it only cost me around $20-25.
