Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | It has happened. The unthinkable has happened . Today I made an agreement with Dale McNair and his buddy Sal . They are now my new Prostaffers and will promoting our new Magum Claw. Last week they boated a 57 by 28 ( about 50 to 55 pounds on a white belly perch prototype. They also caught a 49 incher on the same bait same day. I am waiting for the pictures and story to be put together. This is the break I have been waiting for. These guys wanted a lure with a slim profile that would run great at 3.5 mph or slower. They were trolling at 3.5 when it ate the Mag Claw. There are only 8 of these baits in the world and already there have been 6 Muskies caught on them and one world class fish. Guys, this what we all have been working at here. This is where it can take you. Keep painting, keep inventing and keep building quality hand made baits. For many years I hung out here and posted a lot. We have shared pictures and skills and most of all Ideas. I started in my basement and it has become my lifes work. The best lures built are coming from right here. From the basement guys who care about quality and not cheap production. Beaver? Fatfingers, John, you guys have all helped me a ton. thanks and keep up the great work. I have to go now as I need a bunch of new 9.5 inch Mag Claws for Chicago. Take care and God Bless Kingfisher

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | You could say it looks like a cross between the old M-9 Grandma and a 10 inch Jake. When I drew it out I was looking at that profile of lure. and depth range. Its 9.5 inches long but thicker then either the Grandma or the Jake at 5/8th . The lip is different shaped as well. It rolls a lot and the wobble real good at slower speeds. They asked me last year to build it so I did. Ill see I f I can find a picture of one. Kingfisher

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | Heck I dont even know. I dont get to fish anymore. Those guys wanted a bait that would troll slower then a Jake so I built them one. My best guess is that it will be more erratic as it is a little unbalanced( to make it wobble more at slower speeds.) Its a little bit fat so it likes to roll out to the side. I am thinking we could make it do most anything we want by using different lips but Ill have to test its casting abilities this week on my lake. I have 4 of them in my box that have only been trolled. Mike

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | The fish was caught by Sal and A doctor from New york. I dont know which one was on the rod. The Lure was a Talonz Magnum Claw Prototype 9.5 inch long White belly perch. I could care less where it was caught. Mike

Posts: 5 | The 57 x 28 was caught and released on the St. Lawrence River , near Gananoque . My 49 x 21 was caught and released near Montreal on Lac Deux Montagnes . Give Mike a break . It doesn't matter where the fish was caught : it was caught on his new 9.5 Magnum Claw . Dale

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | I had that wrong in my opening post. I thought both areas were close to Montreal. Dale got the 49 inch fish on the walleye pattern and Sal got the 57 on the perch. The pics will not be put out in public due to the bashing that already has happened. They will however be on my website soon along with pics of a 52 by 24 from Mike Dalakis caught on our new Rippin Shad, Dales 49 and more. It is unfortunate that anyone felt compelled to bash these guys. I am very glad to have them on my staff. Where they live and fish is one of the few places where a true world record could be caught. The more lures I put in those waters the better chance I have of seeing my lure in the mouth of the next true world record. take care guys, Mike

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Kingfisher, Be proud of your lures, proud of the anglers producing nice fish on them, and above all ignore the negative crap some folks just can't help but spread around. You have our full support in the Basement Bait Builder forum, and that's a fact.

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | Thank you very much, You are a stand up guy and this website is still in my opinion the best on the web. I Owe a lot to this forum and all the guys here. We have been exchanging ideas and learning so much stuff from each other. It really is the only Real lure makers forum on the net and the very best are all here. Tight lines to everyone and again thnks a ton to Muskies first for this great forum. Mike King( Kingfisher)

Posts: 4266 | Way to go buddy. Know that all of the regulars here are proud of your accomplishments. You won't see many forums like this in China, will you? Well, now that we've heard about it we want to see it. Once we see it, we'll need to buy some so we can fish with it. More than one food chain in muskie fishing, isn't there. I know the quality of lures that you produce, so I bet that this one will be a winner. Now I have to take a box of wood out to the garage and see what it becomes. Keep on rollin' Mike. Beaver

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | I have to warn ALL OF YOU, If your lures take off and you start doing it for living? You dont get to fish very much. Doug Johnson warned me 6 years ago. I didnt listen. Now I get to work 7 days a week. ![]()

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Agree on fishing Mike! My boat hit the water 4 times this year and every time it was not to fish but to test lures for 10-12 hours each day.... I did go to Canada for a week and that was it for fishing plus a few times pan fishing from shore with the kids. But, thats about it if you make lures... Great looking lures BTW!!!! Your one of the top IMO for hand made lures. James
