Location: Contrarian Island | I know you said you wanted 8 footers...but if you can find or track these down you won't be dissapointed..probably the most backbone I have yet to find for a sucker rod.. I think they may have stopped making them though....Berkley Saltwater Casting rod, 7 foot..I put the model number in at least one other thread if you do a search...slacker! ; ) they rock.

LGM 90 H http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=22 The 9’Lami is an awesome rod that is a composite that I use for everything. Puts a real hurt on the fish.

Location: Oswego, IL | Would any of you use either the slingblade or big dawg for this or should I just use my 8' Compre?? Or none of them? I am very new to live baitn muskie and dont want to mess up either of my tourneys, or the fish if that could happen..

Posts: 1316 Location: Madison, WI | If you can find one, get an Okuma Canadian trolling rod. It's my number one rod for sucker fishing. You won't be disappointed.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | rule of thumb for sucker hooksets: try to break your rod. I'd use your compre. I think the LT's could handle it but why risk it?

Posts: 134 | Before you go spending alot of money, do you own some old 6 footers that you retired in the rafters. I use two 6 foot St Croix's for sucker fishing and setting the hook is no problem. They have quite a back bone. It will give you more money to spend on the bait. Just a thought.
