Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I hope Big Bay isn't locked up yet because I'm headed there Sat. am. I'll put in at Moccassin Point or does anybody know of a better place with current or deeper water? Or am I wasting my time? Some big fish still out there, and I need a fix. After seeing Marty's pic of his 2nd 55", I just want one more shot... Jerome Edited by Top H2O 11/27/2009 10:17 AM

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I only managed to make it out on the last day of 2009 Muskie season. Started at 9:00 and then it started snowing, and blowing, well on Big Bay anyways, The water temps were 34.5-37* trolled the whole time...... Started at Isle of Pines and went East, past Windy/Nyberg Island and spent some time on the reefs in that area and then back up to Comet and Moose............. I just plain SUCK!!! With all of the water I covered, you'd think I could boat at least 2 or 3 nice fish ! My worst year ever for Muskie fishing,....... But it was a blast!! Can't wait to do it again. Some huge fish in this system. I can't help but think that a 59 or 60 incher will be caught next season, with a few 58inchers that were released the last 2 years.........Lord knows that I hooked and lost a couple this season that were 55+inches..... there out there boys! Stupid Fish !! Jerome I don't think we have ever met (maybe the Spring Bay outing last year I don't remember), but I was really pulling for you to boat a hog. Wish you would have had the chance to dance with a fat chick as they were saying last song!!!

Posts: 654 Location: MPLS, MN | Nice pics, don't worry about worse year, it seemed all the large MN lakes were bad this year. I was spending alot of time on Leech this summer and was getting beat up, switched to the Metro lakes and caught a bunch of nice Muskies.

Jerome, We also fished the last two days of the season on the big V! We got one 45 trolling on monday and lost one about 48. The snow was crazy. We had about 3 inches in the boat! Sunday was the day to be fishing! We got a 46 right away then a monster 52. Next spot produced two 44's, then back to the first spot at sunset for a fat 48! What an amazing fishery and a great way to close the 09 season! Pics to follow!

The heater controversy: Its cheap, its easy and increased comfort keeps me and less hardcore anglers on the water longer with that all important P.M.A. Also every fish except the 45 (in the snow storm) were caught casting! In that weather every hour or so we had to switch and melt reels/rods.

Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I use a heater on the Ice in the Frabill and in the deer hunting trailer, and that's about it. Never made any sense to me to have a heater going outside in the open. REAL men use a generator and a massive electric 3000 watt garage heater. Nice fish, Ben!
