I've got a Minn Kota Auto Pilot 65 lb thrust trolling motor. It's about 5 yrs old. I'm using the foot pedal to control the boat, but it will not turn left anymore.
Wondering what's wrong with it?

Thanks,

Grass

Your pedal is bad you can get a new one from Minnkota or many larger boat dealers carry replacements ($65-75). I'm impressed that yours lasted 5 years, mine barely make it a year (600 hours).

Had the same problem with mine. Lot of people told me it was not repairable and that I should buy a new one. The pedal is a very simple design and I was able to fix mine using a piece of electrical tape underneath the PCB. This raised the PCB contacts a little closer to the plastic mechanism that wears over time. A simple fix that may get you another year or two out of the pedal.

Bingo!!!!......and we have a winner. This is a quick fix that 8 out of 10 times works great.

+2 on the tape idea. What happens over time is the contact area gets worn down...a little tape builds it back up and you are all set to go. Also gives you a chance to get all the dirt that can accumulate under there out...

I have done the same repair, but used automotive grade liquid silicone instead- a little more durable and weather proof!

can you tell me where you put the tape or a picture of it, so I can try to fix mine? I have tried everything to fix it.

Robert do you have a hand control and if so, does your motor turn left with it?
