Anybody use the shallow dawgs? I was thinking they might work well in river scenarios. I have one, but it kinda rolls when fished too fast. Any remedy to this problem, besides going slower?

Many shallow rubber swimbaits will role if fished too quickly. When you "take the lead out" you are losing your ballast to the lure and then the only bottom weight is the hooks and split rings.

Add a *small* bell sinker to the front hook.

You can "tweak" the rear of the main body by bending it one way or another to get so it doesn't roll. You can also bend it up and down to control it verticaly as well. Almost all my shallow Dawgs both Mag and Reg have the rear of body slightly bent down and to the left if looking from the front. The bell sinkers works also but I've had better results by tuning them for the action I want instead of weighting them.

I've heard of the sinker trick, but never the "tweak" method. I'll give it a shot this weekend.

Bend them like Roughneck said. I actually bend mine in aboot the middle of the body so it looks like the nose and tail is bent down...looks like kind of a hump back. You will need to continue to tweek it if ripping hard through weeds. Works great....one of my favorite methods of use.

I was watching a DVR'd episode of Musky Hunter and Saric showed bending the Dawgs and the crank-crank-twitch method causing the Dawg to flare up to the side and I tried it the next day and had two nice fish in the boat in the first hour. Guess it worked!

Thats pretty much what I meant. I bend mine though usually were the first vertical grooves start along the rear of the body. That hump look fish just love. Bending them side ways will also "steer them right" if you have a bait that continuely wants to roll one way or another.
