Subject: trim/tilt noise???

My 2002 Johnson 70 hp 4 stroke's tilt is starting to make a new noise!? It sounds fine when I trim the motor in the first 20% of it's lower movement but when it reaches a certain point (the tilt stage?) it is now twice as loud and doesn't sound as clean as it used to. This only happens while raising the motor. My tilt/trim has 2 speeds. It is slow in the bottom 20%, then tilts twice as fast after that. I raised the motor up and checked the fluid levels and level appears okay. Other than the new noise, it is working well. The sound appears to be coming from the t/t motor, not the cylinder with the fluid, (yah - I know, I sound really mechanically inept and I am). Anyone have any ideas?? It may be fine but usually a new noise is a pretty good predictor of a future problem.
Thanks
