Just what size of rod do I need? I'm getting ready to test my Saltist level wind 30 on a Lamiglas 7'6" (2 -10oz lure) rod. Hey, I have an 8' rod but I figure I need one that handles larger lures.
I'm also interested in knowing how the rod should be held. Like should one point the rod directly where the bucktail is being retrieved. Or, should the rod be held at an angle.
Basically, just what rod and how you hold it works best???

Thanks,

Muskie Bob

Location: In a shack in the woods
I always palm the reel. That is what is comfortable for me. Is for rod position it depends on how I am fishing them. If I am slow rolling it I keep the rod tip low. If I am burning it my rod tip starts a little high and as the lure comes in I lower the tip to keep it from blowing out.

I am using a 9' 4-16 oz mi rod. Before next year I will either be using a slingblade or a steel 25 though.

If your throwing the Big Blades make sure your rod tip is pointing straight at the lure while retreiving it! It will make things alot easier for you and your equipment!
