Does anyone have a Lowrance Global Map 5200c GPS unit, and if so do you like it? Looking at buying a unit and am leery on buying a new HDS with some of the bugs I've read about and needs for software upgrading etc. Just hate buying into new technology the first year.

Or would I be better off going without one more season and buying a HDS unit next spring? I want ot keep with a stand alone GPS as I like ot be able to run both my locator and GPS on full screen.

I've not owned one but have a buddy who does and have used it a number of times. It's really no different than a sonar/gps combo, it's just a gps alone though. I'd suggest this unit if your not wanting to go with the HDS.

Very nice unit. I've been running one for the past couple of seasons off the bow of the boat for when I'm running the trolling motor. No complaints at all.
