Hey, I lost my old camera last Jan. and replaced it with an Olympus Stylus 1030SW.
10MP, 3.6x optical wide zoom, that takes pics under the water to 33 ft. deep
Not a bad little camera for under $ 300.

What are some other good ones out there for about 3 Bills ?

I have a Pentax Optio WP20; it's a point and shoot, so it's capabilities are somewhat limited. It is simple, has a timer, is water proof and it does take pics under water - pretty much the things I like in a boat camera. The battery life is excellent. It won't compete w/ a SLR-type for picture quality, but it's not designed to. It's simple enough for my kids to use and w/ a 1 Mb card, it takes well over 200 pictures (which is good since I subscribe to the 'take a ton and at least one will turn out' theory of photography). I think it was closer to $200.

I think you’re on to something. I am pretty sure I know where that first picture was taken. No clue for the bulldawg. If you photograph all your fish while they are in the water no one will know your spots, they won’t accuse you of an improper hold, and they can’t say you kept the fish out of the water too long. Most will still say the length is overstated though. LOL

Good luck this summer on Vermillion. Take lots of pictures.

Top, as soon as you get a chance can you either post or email me some night pictures of a fish. I almost bought that Opympus this winter, but read some reviews that its night capabilities weren't that great, and it scared me off. My camera is about to the point that it needs replacing, and if this waterproof model works as good as Olympus claims it would be a great boat camera.

Thanks
Tom

Plunker,
This camera has all kinds of different settings (25) plus even More options,
Find out where they have a demo and go play with it for a while.

Here are a few taken from my older camera (8000 Olympus) which is 1 step down from the 1030SW.

I have fished that point quite a bit and i havent seen the first fish off of it. I do agree that it is a prime lookin spot though and i would think espically late fall/early winter!

If that is the point I think it is, and I'm pretty sure it is, then I raised a nice one there once, but have never hooked one up.

I was looking at these the other day.
I have a good point and shoot, but the waterproof idea is nice.

Hey, I have that Olympus 1030sw camera, and for some reason, it doesn't seem to take crystal clear shots. Not sure why, but I have not been satisfied with the pic quality. I have it set at the highest resolution, but still, not that sharp. Any advice?

Rule yourself out of the equation. Use a tripod or at least a table and the timer, and take some sample shots somewhere with adequate light. If you still have issues then it's the camera. If not, well....
