I've been using Sennett's small Pacemakers for a few years now and they have been good to me. I use them in pretty much all conditions, but if you wanted something a little quieter for calm days the Holcombe Tackle Stomper has also put quite a few fish in my boat.

Topraider, I have a rumbler and like it better for calm but the problem with the rumbler is that the way it design is it wants to dive into the waves instead of ride them.

LeeLures Chopper. I've caught so many fish on these I cant imaginge another one working "better" Many multiple fish nights as well as multiple days in a row with fish boated on them.
My favorite one has 14 and counting on it!!

My favorite topwater is Lee's Water Chopper and the Pacemaker. As for rough water I like the Double Chopper it really rides the waves nice and is loud. I'm looking forward to trying the tidalwave.

Personal favorites in calm water is the Top Walker and rough water is the Pacemaker. The Top Raider has been good for me in both conditions.

We have had good luck with Thunderheads. Can't find them anymore though.

Another vote for Thunderheads, funny you beat me to it lots of luck. They're a funny bait..I have one that gets clubbed all the time and runs perfect, and three that are barely used that hardly run at all. Throw the good one and look out, though. You never hear anything about these baits but they're deadly where I fish, rough, calm, day or night. TopRaiders (Reg. & Super) and Globe-style also work well and are fun to use.
Not a plug, but in flat water a bulged bootail leaving a fat, sloppy wake is my #1 go-to. Can't remember missing one on them, anything that blows up is goin in the net. I'm also really warming up to tinsel for bulging, only thing other than feathers I've seen with that kind of action, it looks huge at any speed too. Gonna throw that more this year.

I always question which of the many baits might be the hot one in a certain lake, summer or period. I do not think we always find it, but I do think there is always a BEST topwater at any certain time. You won't get too far off throwing the tried and true baits, but remember that if everybody is throwing an ACE 503, fish may get a little leery of that ACE 503, but might still go on the ACME 271. If a certain bait seems to be getting hit for you or your group, always make sure that bait is on somebodies line. Sometimes fish are hitting everything, but sometimes they really seem to have a preference. Do try and lock in on the hot bait, but don't make the mistake of locking in on last year's hot bait, that for some reason does not suit the fish this season.

Last season my WI trip turned up a hot surface bait, but it was a model that has been out over 20 some years, but clearly seemed to be the bait of choice, when some of the newer models were kind of flat.

I've found that the Stomper works very well when it's calm, and the Pacemaker works better with a little chop. Other baits I really like but haven't used much are Holcombe's Super Humper and LOW Rider. Both of those handle a little chop really well. I'm making an effort to throw more topwaters this year because I miss seeing the strikes. Catching fish on double tens and big rubber is fun, but nothing can match that big wake forming behind your bait just before the water explodes and all hell breaks loose.

More votes for the Pacemaker and the water Chopper! The Pacemaker is designed so that the middle hook clicks against the brass tail with each rotation.

The Lee Lures Water Chopper has a sweet natural sound that is the loudest I've heard. It also casts like a bullet!
