Im in the process of planning a trip to LOTW...Im interested in the Sabaskong Bay area, but am open to other areas as well...What I am looking for is a little help from you guys that have been on LOTW alot....Im looking for names of some decent lodges to stay at... Im not looking for something extremely expensive, Im just looking for something that offers meals and is close to some decent musky fishing...If anybody has any info I would greatly appreciate the help....

Mylie's Place near Morson.
they made a significant contribution to the Operation Muskie auction earlier this year, so that shows the kind of quality people you'd be staying with.
i've not stayed there myself, but everyone i've heard from who has stayed with them has had great things to say.

Walsh's Bay Store Camp in NW Angle.
it's an old-school style fishing camp: comfortable, friendly, and in the middle of muskies. they're the hosts for Operation Muskie, and rolled out the red carpet for us veterans last year. i can't wait to get back up there in a couple weeks.

Three places I can vouch for: Tamarack Lodge out of Morson, Pipestone Point out of Kenora, and Bill Sandy's Resort (Sandy's Blackhawk Lodge) in the Angle.

I've stayed at Redwing...clean place, nice folks.

I'm headed back next summer and am looking at Mylie's Place for a change up. It is not far from Redwing---great location and the guy has been great providing information...

The general store in Morson I hear closed, so make sure you bring what you need...tackle, gear, snacks, food, beer.

Not sure if there is another place to purchase those items in Morson anymore...maybe someone could chime in.

Dont think you can beat Red Wing. Mike and Annie are the best.

Red Wing is fine, but be prepared to pay a lot in dock fees. They charge to put your boat in, tie up to the dock each day, and take your boat out. For a week's stay you're looking at close to $100.00 in dock fees. Just so you know.

If you're interested in the NW Angle, I have been very happy with my stays at Angle Outpost. Clean, comfortable, affordable and near some very good water. Doug Johnson guides out of this resort.

John,
As far as location, I really like Obabikon Bay Camp. I heard the owners are back managing it again and I haven't been there since that happened, so I can't comment on service, food, etc. But for location and fishing its ideal. You can head east into Sabaskong as you are right at the mouth of the bay. You can head west into Miles Bay which is an overlooked area for muskies. Then Obabikon itself has some nice fish to be had. For me location is most important as I don't go to Canada to sit in the cabin or mingle with the owners. But the cabins are nice, offers american plan, and is located on an island.

Zak,

You'll like Red Deer, Ray and Roxanne are good hosts. I've been staying there for 20 years. I will be in Cabin 3 starting on Tuesday June 23rd. Stop by and say Hi, maybe I can point you in the right direction.
