| Howdy folks,
recently I posted about going to the Chip in the last week of August, since then plans have changed and now I'm thinking about Eagle Lake..Pike and Musky are the only 2 I'm after, so with that said what would be the better choice.
As well, what's the weather like up north in August - are pike holding deep or still active in the shallows? Lure suggestions ? any help overall..
thanks,
Bryan

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I don't even think the Chip belongs in the same sentence as Eagle, if you have a chance to go to Canada then there's really nothing to think about.
Pike will still be shallow, albeit the bigger fish won't be in the shallow weeds in August. Muskies will be on Rocks or smaller weed patches near Rocks...or wherever else they choose to go. Big Bucktails definetely would be/will be the first bait out of my box.. |

| Hi Brian,
thanks for the info, I was thinking of staying at Temple Bay Lodge - any thoughts?
Since EL is so huge what area would be best - broad question, I guess I mean for that time of year. As well I would not want to waste time boating for the ideal spot cause I stayed at the wrong lodge.
Bucktails it is, thanks again..

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | There really is no "best area" because the hot bite, for muskies at least, can change from one day to the next. With that being said, I do like the Eastern portion of the lake, I have more confidence out there and have had better results in my boat.
I have heard mostly good things about Temple Bay Lodge, and your location would be solid. I prefer to stay at Andy Meyers Lodge myself, it's a great fishing camp and your learning curve will be drastically shortened compared to anywhere else you will stay at. |

| I am headed to Eagle the first week in July. We stay across the bay from Andy Meyers at Birch Dale Lake Lodge nice place also. Not sure how the prices compare to The rest of them. Anytime you get a chance to get to eagle take it. My wife enjoys it so much she wants to keep going everyyear. Though I dont get to fish muskies 24/7 with the wife I get a lot of moring and the evening bites. She alos like to fish wallleys and Smallmouth. Good Luck!!! |
