Just got done switching a few things up on some lures, here is what I have done. Let me know if you think these will not work properly because of this. I wanted better hook ups.

1. ALL lures got split rings replaced - Wolverine pull# 270
2. 9" Suicks got sized up hooks front and middle(T'd and banded), removed rear hook completely.
3. All Hell hounds - upsize front to 7/0 rear 6/0
4. Other Gliders upsized hooks to 6/0 rear 5/0
5. Weagles got "one" up size in hooks i believe to a 6/0 or 7/0 cant remember
6. 10" weagle was going up to a 6/0-7/0 removing rear hook?

So any suggestions or comments would be appreciated

5. That is considerably more than "one" up in size. Weagles currently use a 3/0 that hooks and holds really well. I think you are going to have trouble with hooks tangling if you go that big, but you can try.

6. 10" Weagles already have 7/0's, and I definitely would NOT remove the rear hook.

lol, wow I guess I did make them to big. I will check again tonight on the sizes, but I see the point of tangling the hooks- I usually T the hook on the rear of the action weagle and rubber band it tight to the body with dentist band, so they break when I hook up, with this said I will have to shake it around and see if the hooks do catch eachother. Thanks Baldy!

Yeah went to big, put 7/0 on the action weagle. They do look like they would for sure tangle but like I said i rubber band the rear hook up to the body anyways. I always carry hooks and splits with me while fishing, quick adjustments can be made, but will drop sizes on the weagle. Thanks Baldy.

For the Hellhounds I like to run a short trailor wire to extend the back hook out a little farther from the body of the bait. Early season this ha helped out a lot with nippers and short hitters. Good luck fishing.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to add a second hook to a 6" kickin minnow?

moto, Yup you will have to run a small trail wire and hook one of the treble hooks into the bait under belly, like live bait riggin reverse

I tend to refrain from making modifications to hook size and or placement unless there is a compelling reason to change them. The Weagle? Well, if it ain't broke...
