You'd be VERY happy; 45", 46", 48", and 50".

Pikopath and company had that exact day....but the fish were PIKE!

Congrats on the 50, sir.

That is awesome! I have had some great pike fishing up in Manitoba. Still looking for that 50 though! I came close in '97 with a 49.5. I'll be giving it another shot a week from tomorrow. 7 days in northern manitoba trying to break the mark!

A 50 inch pike is something to be very proud of as a fisherman. Talk about a difficult fish to find. And I'm talking a real 50 inch pike, not a "Oh man that thing must be 50 inches" type of pike. I think the IGFA should have a 50" pike club, like they have the 10lb bass club, 10 LB bonefish, and 25 pound snook club - A pike of said caliber is way more elusive than any of these other "Club sized" trophy fish.

I am truly jealous!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the story. I have to read it myself, just to relive it I wish I could actually go through that again. We use weight for trophies here, and I am 100% sure that I will beat the weight pb of that fish, but Im not sure that I will ever catch a longer one. Unfortunately the 53"er that I wrote about at the end, was clubbed.
Jsondag I wish you the best for the hunt for a 50" pike, I everything else fails, Norway is just a few hours flight away, 8-10 to be precise :P
But from what Ive read some places in Canada, should be able, easily, to produce a 50+. I have an old picture, with a guy that netted or speared a pike, estimated to be 60"+ I think that was in Manitouba
Pictures of my 50" can be found in this thread: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=50...
Beav: If you hear my voice, you should visit the guys with the white coats...

I've seen a few 50's up in manitoba, just never put the hooks in one. One of my dream trips is to go chase Euro-pike.
Last year on Logan Lake Manitoba we found a dying pike swirling on the surface. We grabbed it and tried to revive it. It was about 43 inches. It finally started to swim out, and it started to shake then corkscrew violently down to the bottom in the gin clear bay. As it went nose down in the sandy bottom two huge pike came screaming in to a halt eyeing up their dying comrade. They were both giants one was in the 48-49 inch class, and the other was 52-53. The wounded fish was nose in the dirt vertically when it started to convulse again. In a split second that low 50's t-boned it and shot off as the other big pike gave chase. It was insanity. Wish I would've had a video camera with me!

God luck to you in the future!
