With the Military and Commerce relying on this technology I seriously doubt that the GPS system would fail, What I do see for it's future is that we may possibly have to pay for the service but I doubt it will ever go away.

Wow, that would that change a lot of things.  I can't fish without my GPS on a lot of lakes.

I was forced to fish without mine for a day and a half last year. Forgot the mounting bracket at home. Realized that my GPS was being used more as a crutch and without it I was able to relearn a couple of very familiar bodies of water and picked up on many things that I wouldn't have if I would have had my GPS running. Try it sometime...leave it at home when you head out to a familiar body of water. You might be amazed at the results and how much more you pick up on when you aren't staring at a piece of electronics.

Thats crazy, they had all this money (ours) to bail out wallstreet, but didnt think they can afford to control the GPS controlled missle's they made millions of? or they couldnt fix that, instead they fix a hubble telescope so people can see further into the past........or see gases......a new black hole...... or an alien..... wierd. I think its just another way for them to say we need your tax payer money to fix it, and then when we do, we will tax you on it. Wait is GPS "green technology"? I guess not otherwise it wouldve already been fixed. lol

I'm not sure I remember anything in the Declaration or Constitution about GPS... Seems to me like it should be privatized and sold to the highest bidder.

It is amazing the stock we put into those things... But this "Scare" sounds like a Y2K, Four Horsemen deal! Most likely all BS to increase sales in something.

If GPS does fail, a lot of guys are going to have to go back to doing things the old fashioned way. Back to trusting their vision and their feel. When they want an exact number they'll have to pace it off from marked sprinkler heads and 150 markers.

That's the way I still do it, but I'm old school.

Seriously, I do not rely much at all on a GPS, other than as a speedometer. If you do, I think you need to do what Ulbian said.

Yep...that's what the astronauts on the Challenger and Columbia did. Worked out well for them.
