Just looking for opinions on a 18 foot Tuffy Renegade, late 90's model. Anyone fished out of one of these? I'm looking to upsize a little and would appreciate any comments, what's good, what's bad??
Thanks guys,
Shawn

If you are looking at an 18' Renegade, it's a big, deep, stable boat rated for 150 HP with a side tank interior like the Esox Magnum. It'll run the worst stuff you will encounter, and give you a soft ride. The 18' Renegade is not fast, only about 52 with a buck and a half. I ran two of them, a 95 and a 96, and loved the boat. It has an extremely pronounced bow entry, and isn't very sleek looking, that's the only negative I can come up with. It'll float in a foot, and run 4 footers just fine.

Thanks Steve, I expected to get the best report from you, for obvious reasons. You did a great job of answering everything I really wanted to know about it. Now if I can get rid of my existing boat.

Shawn,
I ran an 18' Renegade Tiller for a few years back in the early 90's and loved it. Tons of room and great storage too. I didn't care much about speed and ran it with a 50 Mariner and it was plenty fast. Never a problem in the rough stuff either. Hope all is well with you and yours in Iowa . Steve
