Does anyone know any nice campgrounds in Vilas/Oneida county area that allows tent camping and has docks to tie up a boat every night. I'm planning a trip for early June and just want to be on a good musky lake where I don't have to land the boat every morning.
Looking at the Hi-Pines campground in Eagle River, however, they are not on the chain. Although Hi-Pines is within 1 mile of the boat landing.
Any thoughts on Hi-Pines campground or another in the Vilas county area that might actually provide docking would be appreciated.

there is one right on the chain cranberry lake/colcamp.com- you take tents,rv's ect... they have elec hook ups, showers and modern plumbing no pit toilets... they also have little cabins of some sort. never stayed there but I got a reservation for jul. they have docks w/elec for a charger and a launch. plus there is gas and bait on many of the lakes. I hope this helps.

Looks to be very nice. Very modern showers and ammenities. Just my $.02 worth

I stayed at Lynn Annes on Big St. Germain about 7/8 years ago - kind of crowded, but nice w/showers. Boat rentals with and without motors was a plus back then and the site was pretty cheap!

Camping with pier access is going to be a tough one. We have 5 camp sites on Palmer, but none have piers. Some of the best fishing in Vilas though. June is prime.

Most lakes have sand shorelines so a big log or anchor is all that's needed. If a storm is coming, just take the boat out of the water. It really is only a 15 minute job, when in doubt even when docked best to take your boat out if a real goood storm is coming. Here are a few private campgrounds that are on lakes.I doubt you will get any rented dock space. Camp Holiday- super campground- on h and Randoph Lake(ramp sucks(muddy)- check out first), Lynn anns on Big St. germaine, Firefox in Minocqua on 2 lakes(little muskie) Arrrowhead in Minocqua. has docks but I think they are private. Flambo campground on Reservation, stateline campground in Pres Isle. there are real good State campgrounds on Razorback and Big Lake with sandy spots by your campsite.
