Day one, 50% Okauchee, 50% Pewaukee.

Raised three on Okauchee, caught 0, saw one 50" caught!

Raised 5 on Pewaukee, caught 2.5 (partner boated two - one stock-ling, mine shook off at the net

All together, not a bad opener. We had fun, we're tired. . . Must sleep - Back at it in the morning!

Milwaukee Chapter beat the Quad County Chapter of Muskies,Inc. on our annual fun get together Tournament on Pewaukee on opening day weekend. Four fish were caught by us and IL. got skunked. Water temps were in the low fifties. Fish seemed to be close to spawning or in the process. No big girls seen or interested.

Fishing was good for us. Raised 16 fish in about 11 hours of fishing this weekend. Lynne and I both got 38 1/2" fish today. Swing baits and cranks. Very skinny Musky!!! The spawn I believe is Done!!! East end temps were 55-56 late mourn. Had 5 others offer but could not get hooks in them. Nippers!

Wind was far past annyoing yesterday, only stayed for a few hours. Netted one about 35" for a friend and saw two more tonight in a few hours. Pretty slow, but nice to make some casts.

It was a very unusual opener on Pewaukee Lake. I have never, in over 20 years, seen the lake so devoid of weeds! Water temperatures were down 10 degrees in only a week to around 50 degrees to start both days.
The Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc., had their annual Opening Weekend Outing with the Quad County Chapter. There are thirty from each Chapter fishing.
Milwaukee reclaimed the traveling trophy after an unprecidented two years of having the "fishing machines from Illinois" take "OUR" trophy south of the border. I wonder if they had to pay an extra toll? The final tally was 4-0.
My boat saw 21 muskies, most all on 6" Slammer crankbaits, in the day and a half event, and only had a 18" smallmouth bass slime the boat.
It is great to be on the water again!

Notice to anyone using the County landing on the west end of Pewaukee, it will be closed on Monday-Wednesday each of the next three weeks for paving and construction work.

Devoid of weeds? Does that mean that the cabbage and the coontail was wiped out along with the milfoil?

I found four sad looking patches of cabbage, each about 10' in diameter. All were in areas that I don't normally find it.

I feel the weeds were the same or slightly along further than last year. This year I was able to see several cabbage patches. Last year I remember none because of the high water and no wake we had.

With all the applications of 2-4-D the land owners are using. The lakes weeds have diminished slowly for the past 8 years or so. Several land owners are putting down 2 or 3 applications a year to rid there dock areas of the milfoil. They say the 2-4-D pellets do not move...But currents and wind seem to create corridors of vacant weed areas throughout the lake. The DNR really should rethink the applications of 2-4-D. It really exposes alot of fish and especially big fish which pewaukee seems to be lacking the past several years...:-(

Fished Pewaukee again today. . . 11am - 5PM

Caught one 36" with a gut, saw about a dozen others between my partner and myself.

Had one bigger fish roll on a suick after first pull, felt the weight, but just missed her. Cool to see her alligator roll though.

spent about 8 hours Saturday without so much as a lazy follow. recent rain seems to have dropped the water temps into the mid-50s and made things pretty dirty out there. our mid-day cook out made it well worthwhile, though!

today was the day for some chores before hopping out in the afternoon sun on a local lake. extremely clear water and temps around 60 degrees.
right at moonrise i had a pickup on a sucker, got a look at a 40"class fish before it dropped the sucker. i circled back through and it grabbed it again...nothing but air on the hookset.
a couple hours later another sucker was grabbed, set the hook and brought a nicely marked tiger up to the boat before it shook off; we scooped and re-rigged the sucker and circled back around and the dumb fish grabbed on again. this time the hooks held true, for a nice 34.5" tiger.
both fish were related to deep weed breaklines.

Well the water out here is pretty chilly, and very turbid due to spring runoff. But since I had to work, I figured I might as well fish. Finally got one to go over deep water trolling an orange and black Krusher wayyyyyy behind the boat. Fish pretty much gave up after it hit. I think it was cold. No picture as I left the camera in the truck, but it went 7.75 hands in length, but I wasn't able to measure how many stones it weighed.

I didn't get back until late last night from a photo shoot, and had plenty of work to do today, but Keith talked me in to a couple hours on a local lake fishing 'eyes. We fished rocks with jigs, and had a blast catching a few bonus Pike and a 13" crappie. The lake we fished has a one over 14" and one under limit, we got the two overs and one 'under', but couldn't get another 'under'.

No Muskie fishing here until season opens, so it's Walleyes, Pike and Panfish for awhile.

FISH FRY!!!

Fished the Kanawha river here in W.Va. Raised 5 fish while fishing with Mikie. Mikie put a 34" fish in the boat while I got a 35" & a fat 36" musky in the net. Not bad for the first trip of the year . Water on the rise and rained ALL day, looks like it will be a while before the water gots back down to fishable conditions, it's in the roads here now.

fished hard for 10 hours straight on sunday, we managed to get over 20 follows but the fish were following lazy and low, a few fish were hot and my buddy blew a couple good chances at boatside, he is still learning how to convert fish into the figure eight, I finally connected with a 36.5"er at moon set, we had over 10 follows during the moon phase. Other then that is was pretty tough out there on sunday, sounded like saturday was the day to be out, one of my friends had 5 fish in the boat on saturday, great to be out on the water enjoying the great weather.

walleyes and a decent amount of Musky this weekend up by us. 4 gators, largest one was about 40-41" on slip bobbers and jigs.

2 walleyes over 20 as well. Saturday we had 30mph winds and snow/sleet. Sunday was gorgeous.

Fished a couple hours before dark Sunday evening...raised 10, stuck one thick 38", should have converted on at least 4 of the 10 but a little rusty. All the action came on small blades.

Fished Clear Lake, Ia on sunday. Got a 34.5" right away up on the shallow sand on a reed runner. A little beat up yet but a real pretty fish. Exact repeat of my first time out last year, except it was an inch smaller. Felt good to get out and fish again. I'll post a pic tonight.

Fished the IMTT on Kinkaid with my dad this weekend. My dad and I caught twin 33s. His in the first half hour, mine in the last half hour. Had action from 10 fish or so total. Lost a real nice fish and saw a mid 40s. Winning team put 6 fish on the board with 2 mid 40s. Total of 36 teams with 28 fish caught.
