I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get all of the old paint of lures, someone told me to use brake fluid. I cannot confirm or deny this, any help would be great. Thanks guys

What do you mean "get rid of"?
You mean getting paint off of a lure?
I use heat to strip paint and clearcoat.
It's the best way that I know. I wouldn't apply anything, because you don't know what you are going to do with the wood. Heat may dry it out a little, but I always reseal any lures that I strip anyway.

Just use a heat gun then?

I heat it up and scrape it, being careful to not dig into the wood or get it too hot.
It works the best for me.

I forgot to make that distinction.
Plactic- you're best off with elbow grease, sandpaper and steel wool.

unless the performance of a lure is questionable we wont strip. on plastic a quick scuff and lip tape. . on wood it differs upon what was used as a final coat.. i have done thousands of factory re-paints, never an issue.

Hey George, how do you like that plastic coating on the Nils? I love that stuff. I can strip one with a utility knife on edge in seconds. That plastic stays on and the paint comes right off. A little sanding and wow !,like new. I have repainted a bunch of Nils that had crappy colors. Now they rock. Mike

heat is a verry good way but also i have found if you need to get it all off you can use this stuff from walmart, its stipper in a can, just spray it on and in a few mins, you can just wipe it off. it willtake everything down to bare wood and then reseal the wood and paint her up.. its quick and easy, but the heatgun and a scraper works wonders too...bill
