I'm going to get a new st croix rod. How much lighter are the legends vs the mojos? If they are considerably lighter i'm going to get the legend. Thanks!

Posts: 2089 | The MOJO's are only available in the Bass Series, but the 7'9" Swimbait and the 7'11" Flippin Stick in this Series may have some muskie applications. Check out the St. Croix website for all the details on the Mojo Bass Series and the Legend Tournament series. The Mojo's are an awesome addition to the St. Croix line at a great price point for a rod of this quality. The above mentioned rods are $120 retail. Nice!

Posts: 27 | I'm looking to get a heavy bass rod for spring jigs. THe Mojo's look to be almost identical in weight to the Legends (as far as weight of the rod itself). What am I missing? IF the blanks weigh the same and have the same action what is the benifit of getting the legend other than the warranty? THanks

Posts: 210 Location: VA | A LOT!!! The mojo and the premier are the same dang blank with a different name-keep that in mind, they are both SCII graphite. The SCIV is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT graphite, totally different design and will not act or perform like the lesser SCII blanks. Better guides, better handle material, carbon fiber scrim (the guts that gives the rod it's hoop strength and prevents the rod from folding onto itself under stress) versus a fiberglass scrim. The blank will have more "feel" sensitivity and will be "crisper" to the hand and lure. With the new IPC and ART the SCIV is just a better rod all around. DR

Posts: 444 | THe tip is way to soft on the Mojo's for Muskie fishing, I held one in my hand the other week for about 10secs and knew it wouldnt be an acceptable Muskie rod. Probably why it's called Mojo Bass rod..

Posts: 27 | How will the SC II feel compared to a Legend? I'm looking for a slower tip and most of the High modulas graphites are super fast. If the MOJO's are just slightly heavier in blank weight but are slower action i'll probly go with that. Thanks.

Posts: 531 Location: Hugo, MN | If it's just for spring jigs, I'd say give it a shot. When you're finessing a 3/4 ounce jig and reaper, you need a soft tip. As long as it has enough backbone to give you a good hookset, most any rod will do for jigs. You certainly don't want too heavy a tip or you'll be straightening out hooks. I've got a rod that was never "designed" for muskie baits, but it does just fine. I think people are buying into the "technique specific" rods a bit too literally.
