I was looking to purchase a new "09" Dodge 1500 4x4 auto trans w/HEMI and 20"wheels, I was wondering about mileage? towing? and overall comfort of this vehicle. I'll be towing my 4000 lb, TUFFY (when loaded) with this truck. Any recomended axel ratios? Is this truck much different than the "08" models? THANKS.

I'd say get the ratio that gives you better pulling power. I believe that would be the 4.10:1 gears if I am not mistaken. Mileage wise, I don't know if it would be much better than what mine has...I get 12 towing a 2000 pound rig and mine is the first generation HEMI in the dodge (2003 ram). I know the new models have something in them that when not needed, a couple of cylinders shut down so you are not burning as much gas at idle...something like that.

Those new 09's really have an awesome stance though...definitely says "don't mess with me"

I had an 05 hemi that got 20 mpg on the highway and 18 in the city, Then I installed flowmasters and got 22mpg on the highway and about 19 in the city. Didnt have a boat back then so I cant help you with towing. I loved mine, TONS of power, very spacious and comfortable, fairly smooth ride... wish I hadnt gotten rid of it. Mine had what VMS is talking about.... only used 4 clyinders at cruising speed until you droped the hammer on it and the beast came to life!

How loud was your flowmaster set? I don't mind a little more sound, but I wouldn't want it obnoxiously loud...

But...the extra MPG would definitely be nice...

The new Hemis have variable camshaft timing which is the main reason for increased milage in '09. 4.10 would give you the most torque for towing. Of course it also lowers your gas mileage.
