just bought a boat that has a 55lb maxxum on the front and i have a cuda sitting at home that's brand new. the batteries are in the back ,should i try to run wires to the back or tie into my running lights or what do you think?..karol

Maybe it's just me, but I like to hook stuff directly to the battery whenever I can. If nothing else, I at least want to hook stuff up to the fuse box and have it on it's own fuse. So, my recommendation would be to NOT hook the unit up to your lights. I have a cold and am a little foggy now...but wouldn't that also require your running lights to be on for the unit to work if you spliced into that wire?

I had the fishfinder tied into the running lights on my Alumacraft. It worked fine, you just had to have the light switched on to turn on the fish finder.
