| Im new to musky fishing and i need a reel. I was thinking about the abu 5500 or 6600 in either the c3 or c4 model. I will be trolling and casting. I will also be using a variety of bait, at least untill I figure out what the musky like. What would be a better all around reel, the c3 or c4? What do you guys suggest? I will probally use this reel for some pike fishing also. Thanks. |

Location: WI | C3 would be a better all around reel. The C4 is higher speed and only works well with walk the dog lures and jerkbaits. |

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | I would recommend the C3 of the two you mentioned for more of an all around reel like you're looking for. It has a bit slower retrieve speed at 5.3:1 compared to the C4, but even that is pretty fast. It will give you a better all around performance that the C4. The C4 has a 6.4:1 (I believe) that isn't condusive to all around performance because of the high retrieve speed. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | 6600 SSC3 is the same as a 6500 C3 but it has the thumb bar like the C4. Thorne's is cheaper than rollies for the ssc3. The guts are all the same, but it is burgundy instead of silver. I would go with the 6600 size for 80 lb line. The power handle helps out a lot too. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I too would agree with RyanJoz. I love the SSC3 for the thumb bar, can't stand the thumb tabs on the C3's. I think I have six of these and have served me very well the past few seasons. Give them proper maintenance and they'll last, imho. |

| FYI, the SSC3 series has been discontinued. No doubt you can still find some around though. |
