Posts: 1039 Location: North St. Paul, MN | The further west you get the less musky fishing opportunities. Sioux Lookout area up to Chamberlain Narrows. You could check out Lac Seul Outpost (very expensive for what you get) or Anderson's (great customer service, but again, very expensive). Good luck. Fished the east end for five years and had a blast catching some big fish and seeing even bigger ones. Steve

I've done the houseboat thing a few times to the NE section...that is a blast, but you are on your own that way. no guides... Moosehorn lodge guides are doing very well for muskies but I have heard they are traveling a min. 15 miles one way to get to the best areas...check out their website, I'm sure they have one.

Posts: 74 Location: thunder bay | I'm a guide at Moose Horn and Worked at Lac Seul Outpost I love both place's with Chamberlain you don't get guide's but there worker's know there stuff about fishing. We do travel a little ways to get to our main area of the Lac Seul we fish but we still have spot's on the way, just not the main one's lol. At Chamberlian you will have to travel a little ways as well to get in the main area's for musky fishing but there is alot of good spot's close to there aswell. www.canadafish.com is the site for Moose Horn Lodge

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | The one we've used many times is in Deception Bay, about 10 miles or so east of Sioux Lookout. I think it's the cloest one to get to the Chamberlain Narrows area, but could be wrong. Nice big parking area, and a decent ramp. I'm sure there are others to the west. Doug Johnson

Posts: 74 Location: thunder bay | Doug is right the one in Deception Bay is the cloest to Chamberlain, there is one to the west just before the town of Hudson that you trun to 5 miles out side Sioux Lookout to the south and it's about 10 min's down that highway. Lac Seul has only two decent access points at the SE corner out of Sioux Lookout and Hudson. either way, these are your best points of access. If you would like, you may want to consider other locations such as, Lac Seul Resort, Lost Island Lodge. These locations are right on the lake. Feel free to give me a call or an email if you would like help with your trip planning. I can help with the guiding part. Planning your trip to fish the big lake is an exciting choice. I would suggest that, if you would like to be able to fish your own hours, lodges with American Plan would not be your first choice. These lodges are on a timetable and expensive. Choose accommodations that are flexible. More and more guests of mine are coming up and staying at more affordable locations and we trailer the boat everyday. Gas is cheaper this way too. Everything is cheaper this way... including a guide! One other thing. Our fishery has great potential right from the launch. A quick 6.5-8km ride gets you right in the zone. For more information about exciting and successful trophy fishing on Lac Seul, give me a call or send an email. I would be happy to help you with your trip plans, FREE of charge. Posts: 265 Location: Manitowish Waters WI | I was up there on Lac Suel two summers ago in early August and we did the camping thing and explored ourselves via map and gps. I will tell you this if you hit it right you wont have to worry about a guide. Best walleye fishing Ive ever done, and dont worry about local lore telling about the difficulties catching keepers and not just "slotters", we caught fishing ranging from 12 -28.5 and all sizes inbetween. Im drooling thinking about it.

Posts: 61 Location: Sioux Lookout On Canada | You are right. Fish of all species and sizes are caught every day. remember... non-residents are not permitted to camp within a set distance from the shores of Lac Seul. There are great and affordable campgrounds and resort for you to pitch a tent or park a trailer, all within a 20 minute drive to a launch. As far as guides go, the concensus is, spend the time and money on a good guide, to prevent accidents, learn the safe travel routes, and get an understanding of the lakes. Note: I have found some serious glitches with the GPS map chips. There are some serious mistakes that have and probably will continue to lead people into dangerous situations. That is why I suggest finding and hiring a guide to start. Someone who will help you get started and who can teach you the lake. For more information about these glitches... send me an email... I would really like to point this out to visitors in my area. I have encountered many people who have encountered problems on the lake. Some extremely serious and very costly. I am always willing to help, but, poor judgment, too much reliance on electronics has caused some serious accidents... plus it takes away from my fishing time to have to tow someone back to the dock. Posts: 3 | I fished out of Andersons a couple of times. We had a great guide Dave Walker. He doesn't guide for them any more. He knew that area really well. We hit a lot of places. Minitaki, English river, Big Vermillion, and Lac Seul. Andersons is well kept and well run. Great boats and guides. I really enjoyed my time there and hope to get back once more before it's out of reach, age and $$$ wise.
