I don't know if I'm at the place, When I tried to ream the handle. I started with the small reamer, the next size up & so on. The end of the handle split. Is there any one out there can tell me how to keep this from happening again
thanks muskiegrit60

I'm guessing you're speaking of a cork handle? Not knowing how you split the cork it's hard to tell you the proper way to stop it from happening again. Flex Coat makes a set of bits that have a tendon on the end and are designed to ream out cork and the tendon makes sure you ream straight. I use them. You can also use spade bits pulling the bit backwards through the cork and the spade bits shank will keep you inline.

Without those, you just have to ream carefully. Starting with something like a round toothy rasp will get your cork cut FAST, and once you get close, you can finish with reamers with grit or rat tailed files. If you have a lathe, lock the rat tail file in the lathe and work the cork on the lathe. Batson makes a product called "Dream Reamers" that are very popular as well.
