Hard to believe but these well-heeled wackos (but not stupid) are putting out there propaganda at every level. I sat down with my daughter this afternoon while she was watching a cartoon on the FoxFamily channel called Braceface. The main character takes a job in a meat packing plant (yeah right....where every 13 year old goes to work in the city) and, of course, everyone working with the animals is devishly mean and sadastic. And suddenly the little girl is a completely converted vegan spitting out the PETA party line verbatim from their website. I couldn't believe it....but maybe that is the problem. These people have the audacity to attack anywhere and everywhere with no compunction. The rest of the cartoon she is converting her friends and family to vegatarians also. Anyone who eats meat is then referred to as "cruel" without exception. It is hard to win the battle with our kids when the Hollywood media is putting out this kind of tripe to our children.

Do we complain vociferously....or just let it die away until we no longer can hunt or fish???

Some animal rights protesting has merit. PETA, however, is in my opinion full of lunatics who want everyone to believe that humans are something that we are not. I believe that everyone should make choices for themselves but the bottom line is that humans eat meat and always have.

The way to go after PETA is through organized counter protests.

The thing is an overwhelming majority of people write them off as lunatics. This group in paticular has been gaining power of late which should be noted.

That's why I am very selective about the kids programming I let my kids watch. Network garbage is pretty much off limits, because of the crap like you mentioned, Nickelodeon is even pretty much dead air because of all that Rugrats-style obnoxious rolemodel crap. Discovery Kids, Disney Channel (only have to duck one or two shows on there)...
Disney can sneak up on you with the PC bullcrap. I was irritated as heck by the commercials for a movie called "Cadet Kelly", about a girl in military school who is on the drill team, and they are twirling these doofy looking white wooden guns, and they felt compelled to put a graphical and vocal disclaimer that no actual guns were used in the making of this movie. Didn't watch it, won't watch it, just because of that.

Doc,
This has been going on for a very long time.

'Bambi' is a great example. I have been using the old Ajax Liquor line forever to combat that particular stupidity...where Bambi goes, nothin' grows!

And when asked" How can you shoot those poor little creatures?" I always answer..."Center the Buck in the crosshairs, just behind the shoulders, and SQUEEZE the trigger, don't pull."
