| I just bought an old used boat in the fall and the fish finder set up doesn't work, so I am looking to get a fishfinder with GPS and need to keep the price under $500. (would love one with side imaging but can't afford it, so looking for an affordable, high quality setup)
I have been looking at Humminbird's mostly, in particular the 595c and the 757c.
Does anyone have any info or experiences with either of these two setups or any other comparable setups from Lowrance.

Location: London, England | I've got a 580, which is a black and white unit. Works well. If you want the gps for navigating colour might be worth getting, but if you just want to mark spots and keep track of where you've been the B&W unit is fine. Much less than $500 too. |

Location: Land of the Musky | You can find a lot of great deals on units under $500 in the Cabelas bargain cave. I have seen some new (open box) Lowrance 522 iGPS units for about $400. You will find most brands there for good prices. Also try eBay for some units. Some shops use eBay to "dump" older unis for 20-30% off retail. They break even thsi way and you get a good price. Just a thought.

Location: Roch NY | I have the 595c and have to say that im very happy with it. keep in mind that the maps it comes with are pretty useless though-no bottom contour so you will want a navionics hotmaps to go with it so be sure to factor that into your cost as well. '08 should be fine but you can compare it to the 09 and see if there are differences in the lakes you fish. the ones in high def are amazing.
this is one aspect of fishing that spending the extra $$ will result in a noticable diff in things like dpi and color etc so you're not dissapointed you didn't spend an extra 40 or so to get the better unit in the model line you chose.
