| I'm going to buy a St. Croix Legend Tournament sling blade rod. I'm trying to figure out which reel will match nicely. I've got a collection of abu 7OOOs, but I'm afraid they'll be too heavy. I was thinking about a daiwa saltist, but that too is a heavy reel. Another option is the Penn 975-It's 5 or 6 ounces lighter. The primary application will be casting big blades. What do you guys think will match up nicely? |

| I have a 6600EXT on one and a Luna on another one. I use the 6600 primarily for spinnerbaits.
I used 6600EXT's for the first time last year, and I really liked them. I also have them on my Lipsticks. Nice reel when you don't need something ultra heavy. |

Location: Hugo, MN | If you're spending that kind of money on a rod, you almost owe it to yourself to put a high end reel on it. If it were me, I'd put a Shimano Trinidad TN12 or 14 on it, and have the ultimate big bucktail rod.
The Abu Garcia 6600EXT is a nice reel. I tried one last year, and liked it for everything but the double tens. With the power handle it actually handled them pretty well, but it ended up making some nasty noises after a couple months. I wouldn't hesitate getting another one for easier pulling baits. It casted like a dream. |

Location: Elgin IL | I used the Trinidad 12 Reel last season and really liked it.This reel is light and is a real work horse. You have to make sure you aim your reel at your lure when retrieving and your line stays level on the spool.I have also heard this reel is only good for big blade bucktails.....NOT..... The Trinidad casted Jakes and Depthraiders a mile and reeled in easy and faster than anybody else. You can buy these on EBAY for around 250.00 Make sure you use larger diameter line 100lbs test and do not overfill.
