I have a few questions about the differences between the Okuma Red Isis and the Induron.

The Red Isis has (from the Okuma website) "Helically cut brass gears for superior strength and higher engagement speeds." As a musky fisherman, how important is this? Strong gears is certainly a plus, but I used the Indurons all last year and never had a problem with the gears, and have not heard of other people having trouble with the Induron gears either.

The Red Isis has 5 stainless ball bearings, while the Induron has 7 stainless ball bearings. I think we all know that higher quality bearings are more important than high numbers of bearings, but the Red Isis has fewer bearings and is still higher priced. Are the bearings in the Isis higher quality, or does the other machining (heli gears, etc.) raise the price?

Is there going to be a difference in durability or smoothness between the two?

Finally - how does everyone like the round metal power handle on the Red Isis? Does it get uncomfortably cold in fall or spring fishing conditions? Is the handle length similar to that of the Induron power handle?

Has anybody used the Isis with the big double paddle handle? How did you like it if so? Is it long enough for pretty good leverage? Are the paddles pretty good sized and "grippy" with wet hands? Can the paddle handle be put on an Induron?

Look forward to any info, whether it's from Mark at Okuma or anybody that has used these reels.
Thanks,

All I can help you with is the bearing question as I've never used one. The bearings used in the Red Isis are built with tighter tolerances than those in the Induron. This eliminates slop and vibration, gives you a much smoother feel. I'd actually like to compare the two some day to see if it's worth the extra money. My Induron is pretty smooth, not sure it matters beyond that point.
