Posts: 91 | I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with some advice regarding Sonar Units. I'm interested in buying a LCD Sonar Unit for the bow of my boat. I fish predominately for muskies, and mostly smaller lakes ( 100 -1000 acres), so GPS is not that big a feature for me. I've checked into two units Eagle Fish Easy 320C 3 1/2" screen, and the LowranceX67C. Both units look and specs are identical. My question to you all is, with a limited budget of like $ 250.00 - 300.00 for a unit, which would you suggest and why? Also, regarding a Sonar with a 5" screen. Any suggestions with other avaialble units in this range? Thank again and Happy Holidays!

Lowrance actually owns Eagle, however, the Lowrance name has been around longer and is more distinguished so I guess somehow they get more $$$ for those because of the name. My research on the two units was exactly what I thought in the fact that their isn't anything of difference between the two units that I could find, other than the name. If I were buy one of these units, I'd buy the Lowrance because I've always had a preference for Lowrance. But really it doesn't matter which unit you go with. Here is another unit that isn't much more. But in my opinion, for $50 more, the 5'' screen is definitely worth it. The pixel count, the power and everything else of relevance is the same. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_1...

If you can afford the extra money it may be worth checking into an eagle fish elite 480. It gives you more power, higher pixel ratings and gps for 359$.

In my opinion, the color units are definitely the way to go. If you take a look on ebay, their are some great units for a whole lot less than buying new.

Posts: 91 | Thanks guys for all your advice! I do want a color unit, and think I'll go with the 5" screen. I do have a question though, if you buy from e-Bay, do you still get the manuf. warranties? Not that it's just "buyer beware"... I would definately want that warranty. Again, thanks...

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | If the unit is a current unit that Eagle and Lowrance both are selling right now, a warranty is present. However, if something happens to your unit, it may or may not be covered depending on what is wrong with the unit. I'm not totally sure on how picky Lowrance or Eagle is on having a receipt for a warranty issue. When I sent my LCX-27 in this past fall, they asked for the serial number on the back and said yup, it's under warranty. So, I sent it in and they sent me a brand new unit, no cost. That's why I bought Lowrance. I'd imagine Eagle would do the same thing since there owned by Navico who owns both Lowrance and Eagle.

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Here you go, this link will explain in-depth what your asking about. From the way I read it, without a receipt or proof of purchase, the warranty is void when buying from an online auction. It's a gamble you take if you do buy on ebay. http://www.eaglenav.com/en/Support/Warranty-Information/ Edited by Merckid 12/28/2008 10:46 AM

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Also, both units have FasTrack, which is a flasher mode. So, from what I thought, there isn't a major difference between these two units. If there was, the price point would show it. In the case of these two units, the brand name is the main difference. That has been the case numerous times with units of this caliber. You'll see major differences with the larger units. Edited by Merckid 12/28/2008 10:55 AM
