I came close when I lost a fish on Leech several years ago. I hooked it boatside on a figure 8 and if I hadn't been fishing alone, it would have easily been netted. I was shaking like a leaf and couldn't get my net extended while I fought the fish. It was an easy fifty. The fish raised its head out of the water and shook the bait free just five feet from me. I slid the net under the tail end of the fish just as it gained it's bearings and swam away. I spiked my rod in the bottom of the boat and may have let some profanities fly. The part that really got me was that my buddy had given up an hour ago and had me drop him off at the landing. I don't think I could ever actually cry over a fish, but I've definitely gotten P.O.'d after losing one.
