I'm looking for a Topper Stopper that squeeks and squeals when it's retrieved. I want one that make so much racket it's like nails on a chalkboard. Scoot

Posts: 4266 | Once again the old bull grabs his gear and walks down to the fishin' pond ![]() I saw a segment about this on Bassmasters. They did some if not all of the fixes. One guy said that smooth pieces that mesh well together don't create friction, so they won't squeak. Different sized rivets is good, or for a quick fix, use your hook sharpener and make some rough grooves in the opposing rivet faces so they cause fricion. Friction causes heat that causes squeaks. All of the pros said that they drive from Wal-Mart to the boat landing with their buzz baits hanging out the window to cause wear on the rivets, the 3rd pro said that is why he walks from the Wal-Mart to the boat landing.....to pick up buzz baits. And the old-timers tip was......Bubbles, Bubbles, Buzzbait Troubles. Buzzbaits will only leave a bubbly trail when there is real low pressure, which is the best time to throw them. So watch behind your surface lures...no, not Weagles, they always leave a trail......a long trail of bubbles indicate low pressure, and good conditions for surface spinners.

Posts: 46 | i've taken them and rewired using steel wire, 1/16'', the steel wire will start to rust and you would'nt believe the squeal you get, use a steel rivet for bearing too, that will make it even more intense, i use steel rivets on alot of my tailbaits(tapdancer's), you can pretty much make any topwater lure squeal by replacing the rivets with steel ones that rust, and they never corrode so bad that they won't spin, and if they ever do, just redue the bait again, ryan

I liked how it sailed in the air like a little flag when I drove. About a month after I took the buzzbait off my truck,I saw it chipped a complete circle of paint off my hood around the antenna. I guess everytime I Stopped at a red light(city) the buzzer would fall about 6 inches onto the hood. Edited by basscaster 11/27/2008 11:12 AM
