Posts: 335 Location: Orland Park | I've used bell sinkers over the past few years attached to the top of a 24"-36" leader, depending on the size of the suckers. We fish a lake that is legal to troll, so the slow movement keeps the sucker moving while not allowing it to tangle itself up. What do you all use, or would recommend rubber core sinkers instead?

Location: Des Moines IA | I wouldn't recommend attaching any sinkers to the line. I've seen bad things happen when you do that. Use a snap to attach bell sinkers to the swivel on the quick strike rig.

Posts: 335 Location: Orland Park | I always use a snap.......to the top of the leader to keep it as far away as possible from the sucker. It has worked and never had any tangle up, but we've missed several on the hooksets. Rubber core weights seem a little more aerodynamic and may make for a more solid hookset? I don't know.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I use a regular straight wire leader before my Hulcano Harness, then I attach the rubber core sinkers to the 174 lb. wire leader. By doing it this way, you have the length of the flouro on the Hulcano Harness and the 12 inches from the wire leader. It helps keeps the weights about 2 feet in front of the sucker. Location: Des Moines IA | I don't think a bell sinker is going to create enough drag to mess up a hook set. Suckers are always a 50/50 bet at best.

What kind of weights do you use to keep the suckers down? I have been using bell sinkers with a snap attached to the top of the leader. So with a 24" leader and the quickstrike rig, there's anywhere from 3'-4' between the bell sinker and the sucker. What does everyone else use?
