When using my mojo weagle (8") it noses down and goes subsurface (def not a wabull!) occassionally. Is this something that I'm doing wrong on the retrieve? Should I slow down or jerk the rod to the side more?

try leaving more slack in the line when you jerk down, and maybe slow down some too.

Definitely need to keep more slack line between the rod tip and the weagle. I've seen guys move a weagle at warp speed, without any nose dive, so speed shouldn't effect it much.

I've had this happen also. I've found if i switch from a 130# leader to an 80# the nose will stay up better.

It's not the leader, trust me, as I throw mine with a 150 pound flouro leader.

You need more slack and SLOW it down...it's not a Jackpot.

It is possible that it is your Weagle too. I have a number of them, and my best one actually does that at times(taking on water possibly..?..) without notice. This lure(the very first one I got several years ago from Cady) has been a very good one, so I still use it, but can also be very frustrating as my other weagles do not dive at all in most any water condition with a proper slack slap retreive. It is not beyond belief that you have a finicky one, but it might just end up being your best producer if you can put up with it...

Yup. Hard wire leader, .055 or so works best for me. I WANT the Weagle to be capable of diving a bit.

Put a bigger hook on the rear end. I put 5/0 Heavy Mustads on all of mine.
And Slow down

Yup, that is the advice I was given last year when I had the same problem and it worked for me.

Thanks guys, I don't use Flouro leaders so that isn't the issue. It sounds like maybe I'm just 'fishing it like a jackpot'.
